Borrowing Private Education Loans

Please know:

  • You are free to choose to borrow from a lender who is not on our historical list. 
  • Brown University will certify a loan with ANY lender you choose. 
  • Students will incur no penalty for choosing a lender that is not on the list. 
  • The current Prime and LIBOR rates are available at the Federal Reserve Statistical Release.
  • Brown University adheres to a strict Code Of Conduct for Educational Loans.

Additional Information

All private education lenders will provide loan applicants with a Private Education Loan Applicant Self-Certification form as part of their application process. The Cost of Attendance and Estimated Financial Assistance figures should be provided to you on the form.
