Make A Student Account Payment
Important Notice Regarding Student Account Payments: Effective June 1, 2025: To ensure the security of your payments, direct wire transfers from individuals to a Brown University bank account are not authorized and Brown's bank account details will not be shared with individuals. Families interested in sending a wire payment/bank transfer must send that payment through the through TransferMate or Flywire payment methods outlined below. Any direct wire transfers received from individuals for a student account will be subject to a $225 fee.
Electronic Payments for Student Accounts
Students and their Authorized Users can use the Student Account Payment System (payment.brown.edu) to make online payments.
- ACH payments from a U.S. personal checking or savings account (no fee) post to the student account immediately and may take up to 48 business hours to post against the payer's bank account.
- Debit card or credit card payments are accepted with a non-refundable service fee which is charged by and paid directly to the payment processor at the time of the payment. The service fee is not charged by nor paid to Brown University.
- The service fees are not refundable in any circumstance. Card Payment Service Fee Rates: (based on the transaction amount): Cards issued by a domestic (U.S.) bank: 2.95% or $3.00 minimum. Cards issued by a foreign bank (outside the U.S.): 4.25% or $3.00 minimum
- TransferMate Global Payments allows international payers to make payment in their local currency from nearly any country, offer competitive exchange rates, and offer 24/7 multilingual support. TransferMate works with many countries to comply with their specific international payment regulations. This short video provides an overview of the payment process; our Guide outlines it in more detail. Payments initiated online appear as a “Pending Payment” for up to 48 hours; payers must take additional steps to complete the payment process within that 48 hour timeframe.
- Installment Payment Plan: Students and their authorized users may enroll in Brown University's Installment Payment Plan (IPP) to make interest-free monthly installment payments over a single semester. A non-refundable enrollment fee must be paid at the time of enrollment.

Alternative Payment Methods for Student Accounts
- Check Payments: must be in US dollars and must not be post-dated; mail to Brown University Cashier Office, Box 1911, Providence, RI 02912. Checks made payable to anyone other than Brown University will not be accepted.
- Flywire international payments offer favorable foreign exchange rates, the ability to pay in home currency and savings compared to traditional banks. Students and families can track payments via Flywire's dashboard and receive notification via email (and/or text) when the payment is received by Brown University. Visit Brown.flywire.com to make an international student account payment.
- Sponsor/Third-party Payment: Sponsor/Third-party payment may be received from a domestic or foreign company, corporation, state or government agency that has been granted special billing arrangements to cover tuition and other fees for students that they sponsor. Third-party payments must include a letter from the sponsor including the student name, student Banner ID number and semester to which the funds should apply. If paying by check, please refer to the “Check Payments” information above.
- Financial Aid: The Office of Financial Aid determines eligibility for undergraduate and graduate students federal, state and institutional need-based grants and loans. The Alpert Medical School (AMS) Office of Financial Aid determines eligibility for medical students federal and institutional support and loans.

Make a Federal Perkins Loan or University Loan Payment
Electronic Payments
Federal Perkins Loans and University Loans are repaid to Brown University's Student Financial Services. Brown partners with ECSI to provide online account access for these payments. Make a Federal Direct Loan Payment
